2018 Toyota Camry in the UAE
The verdict
Yes — with two checks. A 2018 Camry is one of the safer used picks in the UAE under AED 60k, provided the brake actuator recall has been done and the AC is still cold past 100,000 km.

Why people keep buying it

The eighth-generation Camry — Toyota's global 2017 launch, in GCC showrooms from 2018 — is the best-selling mid-size sedan in the UAE for the same reason it has been for fifteen years. It does the job. The 2.5-litre four makes 203 horsepower, the eight-speed automatic shrugs at 45-degree summers, and the parts shelf at any independent garage in Al Quoz is full.

The catch: a generation that's been on the road for six years has accumulated mileage. The median 2018 Camry on sale today has 92,000 km on it. That's not a problem on its own — but it does mean you're past warranty and into territory where one or two well-known issues start showing.

Three things to check before you call

  1. 01
    The brake actuator recall
NHTSA recall 19V-571 affected ~70,000 Camrys including some GCC units. Free fix at any Toyota service centre — but not all owners have done it. Ask for the completion record.
  2. 02
    The AC condenser
UAE dust + 45°C summers corrode the front condenser around 100,000 km. If past that, ask if the AC has been re-gassed — if yes, dig deeper before paying full price.
  3. 03
Service history at Toyota or a credible independent
A Camry serviced at Al-Futtaim or a known Sharjah independent is a different car from one with no records. No file? Offer 10% less.

Frequently asked

Updated answers from our 2026 UAE Camry buyer survey · 89 verified owners

Yes. The 8th-gen Camry has the same 2.5L A25A-FKS engine and 8-speed automatic that has shown no widespread issues in GCC conditions. We see most reliability complaints clustered around AC condenser corrosion past 100,000 km — a UAE-specific concern, not a fundamental engine or transmission problem.
